Helen Norwood is the former girlfriend of John Locke. She is played by Katey Sagal, and appeared in four episodes.

Basic Information

Helen was a woman Locke met at an anger management class. They hit it off right away, and were soon dating and sleeping together. On their sixth month anniversary, she gave Locke a key to her place on the condition that, when he stays over for the night, he stays over. She revealed to Locke that she followed him when he left in the middle of the night as she was worried about him, and deduced that the home he went to was that of his father's - Anthony Cooper. She told Locke that she'd wasted 20 years of her life being angry, but that he had helped her. She wanted to help him get over his anger. Locke agreed to Helen's terms. Afterwards, however, Locke broke his promise and again went to his father's home. Helen followed and threw his car keys onto Cooper's property, telling Locke that he had to choose between seeing her and continuing to stalk his father. Locke chose her.

Helen and Locke moved in together, and their relationship blossomed. While reading the obituaries one morning, she discovered that Anthony Cooper had died and accompanied Locke to the funeral. Unbeknownst to her, Cooper was alive and contacted Locke. He needed Locke's help to retrieve money from a retirement con, since the two men he conned wanted to kill him. The same two men showed up at Helen and Locke's home to question Locke about his father's "death." Helen leapt to Locke's defense, outraged at their insinuations, and the men eventually left. She asked Locke if he was lying to the men and he lied to her, and told her no. Riddled with doubt, Helen followed Locke to a motel and discovered Locke meeting with the very much alive Anthony Cooper. Distraught, she slapped Cooper and left for her car. Locke tried to explain himself to Helen, but she told him that he made his choice — he needs his father's love more than hers. Locke attempted to propose to her, but Helen simply shook her head and left.
