Season Eight of Pokémon premiered on September 9, 2004. It completes the adaptation of the Game Boy Advance games Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire while also incorporating elements from the third iteration in that series, Pokémon Emerald.

Season 8 features the final confrontation with Team Magma and Team Aqua, and follows Ash and May as they both proceed to their final goals in Hoenn - the Hoenn Pokémon League in Ever Grande City and the Pokémon Contest Grand Festival. In the USA, the season is given the unique title of Pokémon: Advanced Battle.
