James Tiberius Kirk (born March 22, 2233) was one of the main characters on the sci fi drama series Star Trek and all six of its films. During the series, (and its subsequent films) he served as captain of the USS Enterprise for nearly three decades and later served as a Starfleet admiral in the films. He also served as an explorer, diplomat and soldier. He eventually lost the rank of admiral when he disobeyed a direct order from Starfleet. He then returned to the rank of captain and commanded the newly christened USS Enterprise-A for seven years before retiring from Starfleet.
