Plot Overview
Hired by a powerful millionaire to investigate his prospective son-in-law, Rockford is first sent to Newark, New Jersey, where he quickly incurs the wrath of the local police, as well as mobsters. Upon returning to L.A., he becomes involved with more mobsters (who kidnap him) and also the FBI. Rockford learns that the man he's investigating was once a powerful figure in the East Coast mob under his real name, and when the man turns up dead, he has to wonder just who the killer is.
