$5 Cover is a music mocumentary drama that aired on MTV. Each season focuses on the music life of one US city, with the cast being made up of real-life independent musicians, performing their own music while playing fictional version of themselves. Alongside the main episodes, MTV also release a series of proper documentaries about the artists and bands, called $5 Cover Amplified.

The first season was written and directed by Craig Brewer and set in Memphis, TN. It debuted online with 15 seven-minute episodes, and was also aired on MTV, as 5 half-hour episodes.

For season 2, the series moved on to Seattle, WA, with Lynn Shelton serving as writer and director. The entire season became available on MTV.com on December 15, 2010 and includes 12 seven-minute segments. The second season has yet to air on television.
