The Wald Cell was a cell lead by Joseph Wald that sucessfully planted and detonated explosives inside Los Angeles CTU.

Objectives

Joseph Wald was approached by Nina Myers, who sold Wald architectural plans for CTU and gave him a specific date to carry out the attack. The goal of Nina's employers was to cripple CTU's response capabilities to the larger attack planned.

Execution

Nina gave Wald's group advice on how to infiltrate CTU. Wald didn't know who she was, but took pictures of the woman on their second meeting.

On the day of the planned attack, Jack Bauer, undercover as Jack Rousch sucessfully infiltrated Wald's cell by bringing Eddie the head of a witness in an upcoming trial against Wald. He annoyed one of Wald's group and broke his ankle when the man attacked him, so Eddie told Jack to take his place.

They went to a remote switching station and tampered with the station to create static on CTU's phone lines. The phone company sent a truck to investigate, which Wald's crew ambushed, killing one of the workers to show they meant business. Wald forced the remaining worker to tell his office they needed to visit CTU.

Jack called Lynn Kresgie and told him the terrorist plan.

Wald and crew got past security dressed as phone workers and planted bombs. Jack freed the hostage and told him to warn Tony Almeida of the bomb. Wald and crew escaped without incident, and the bombs went off before the evacuation was complete, killing at least 29 people.

Wald called Eddie and Jack tried to arrest Eddie and get the address to Wald's location. A gunfight ensued and Jack killed Eddie and the two other members of the cell. Jack went to Wald's residence. Wald locked himself in a safe room before handing Jack pictures of the woman who told him when to hit. Wald commited suicide to escape a jail sentence.
