Allusions and References

• "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen": When Milton Greene stumbles across Tracy crying to Kenneth about dropping out of high school because he was chicken, he questions the moment. This is a direct reference to the last episode of M*A*S*H, titled "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen". In the episode, Capt. Pierce twice attempts to access a repressed memory about what caused a mental breakdown. The first time, he told a South Korean refugee to shut her chicken up when he feared that it would cause an enemy patrol to find and kill them in hiding. After snapping at her, the "chicken" is suddenly silenced. He reverses the memory and admits that it wasn't a chicken that was killed, but the woman's own baby. Pierce and Greene were both played by Alan Alda.

Milton: A guy crying about a chicken and a baby? I thought this was a comedy show.
