Plot Overview

On Halloween at The Galleria, Jonesy gets a job at a costume shop and offers the gang deals on costumes for their plans that night. Caitlin is the first to take up the offer, announcing that she plans to go to a monster movie festival at the Gigantoplex. Jen, however, is not so enthused about the costume Coach Halder is making her wear to work at the Penalty Box—a pig snout and pig ears, which Jonesy ribs her on by oinking like a pig as he speaks while a couple of passing mallgoers also tease her about the costume and Wyatt takes a thinly-veiled jab of his own by "complimenting" the costume, saying that Jen makes a "very pretty pig".

Jonesy, Wyatt and Jude brainstorm ideas for pulling a Halloween prank on Ron the Rent-a-cop, leading Nikki to scoff when Jude pulls out a book of practical jokes to pull. To ease Nikki's skepticism, Jude puts the prank book to the test when he phones the Khaki Barn and, pretending to be a technician from the phone company, fools the gullible Clones by telling them that the phone lines will be cleaned by using steam, then he recommends to The Clones that they wrap their phones in towels to keep them from getting hurt by the "steam". Ron, on the other hand, is not so easily victimized as the stoic security guard remains unfazed by the guys' prank attempts, starting with simpler ones like putting a security sticker in his back pocket to trigger store alarms wherever he goes (which backfires at the Penalty Box when he finds the sticker) and letting a remote-controlled toy mouse run the floors. Undeterred by the failure of the earlier pranks, Jonesy plans a bigger prank to use on Ron.

Caitlin and her boyfriend Talon have been on three dates so far, but Cait mentions that Talon has yet to kiss her the entire time. After getting some advice from Jonesy, Caitlin tries playing it cool to heighten Talon's interest, starting with pretending to talk on her cell phone as she sees him and a friend walk by the Big Squeeze, but Caitlin ends up making herself look foolish to Talon when the phone rings for real. Later at the Khaki Barn as Caitlin munches on a spinach wrap for lunch and Nikki helps herself to Halloween candy intended for KB customers at the front counter, Nikki pulls her own Halloween prank on The Clones (all of whom have dressed up as Barbie dolls for the occasion), tricking them into eating the whole bowl of candy by telling them that the latest fad diet can help them lose weight by eating nothing but Halloween candy. Caitlin then gets a call from Talon to meet him at Grind Me for coffee, where she talks with him over blended frozen coffee drinks about the costume she wants to get for the monster movie party, which she wants to take him to. Caitlin uses the meeting as an opportunity to try to get Talon to kiss her, but her plan falls through and she embarrasses herself again when Talon points out that she has a piece of spinach (left over from her earlier lunch wrap) stuck in her teeth.

Jen, already having enough grief over wearing the pig snout and ears to work for Halloween, is nearly driven to distraction by Coach Halder's over-the-top celebration of the holiday on the job, where he dresses up like serial-killing movie character Jason Voorhees and scares his customers half to death by charging out at them in costume, waving a running chainsaw at them. Halder gets his kicks from frightening the Penalty Box customers, but Jen takes issue with his childish antics and criticizes him for overdoing it, which twice earns her "penalties" from Halder for "not showing Halloween spirit". After getting penalized the second time, Jen gets fed up and, remembering that Halder got spooked earlier when he saw Stanley the brat come into the store dressed as a mouse for Halloween, decides to play on her boss's fear of mice (which he earlier mentioned was caused by a traumatic incident where a mouse crawled up his leg and into his jockstrap back in his football playing days). Borrowing the remote-controlled mouse from Jonesy's earlier prank on Ron, Jen causes Halder to freak out and scream like a girl when she sends the toy mouse into his costume.

Meanwhile, Jonesy lays out the plans for his big prank on Ron with the gang. In the first part, Jonesy has Wyatt bring Ron a mega-sized blended frozen coffee as a "peace offering" to make up for the earlier pranks and to lull Ron into a false sense of security, while in the second part, Jonesy arranges to have all the mall washrooms closed except for one, the "loathsome washroom" (so-named because of its decrepit, less-than-clean condition), where Ron would go to relieve himself when the time comes and where the gang would then catch him on film. Nikki calls Caitlin, who was not in on the prank-planning meeting, to update her on its progress, but Cait hangs up before Nikki gets the chance to warn her to stay away from the loathsome washroom later on. The prank is later modified when Jen, after teaching Halder a lesson for scaring customers out of the Penalty Box with his masked psycho-killer costume and antics, recruits him to join in on the prank, and Jonesy paints some melted butter onto one of the toilet seats while Jen gets Halder to go into character after Ron comes in, to scare him enough to cause him to slip from the toilet seat and fall into the bowl.

Caitlin arrives at the Gigantoplex dressed in the costume she picked up from Jonesy earlier, appearing for the monster movie festival dressed as a peacock-themed Las Vegas showgirl, but finds to her surprise that none of the other moviegoers are dressed up in costumes. An embarrassed Caitlin explains to Talon that she thought the event was supposed to involve costumes, but Talon puts her mind at ease by praising her for having the courage to show up at the festival wearing the showgirl costume, and the audience soon follows along and cheers Caitlin on as they start donning costumes of their own. After the movie, Caitlin, starting to feel a full bladder, excuses herself to find a washroom, but she finds lineups at the theatre lobby's washrooms, then finds the women's room at the food court closed, so Talon (now dressed in a Batman-like costume) offers to keep a lookout for her outside while she ducks into the dimly-lit loathsome washroom, the only such facility open at that point—completely unaware of what she has walked into.

Jonesy, the rest of the gang and Coach Halder are standing by inside the washroom when they hear who they think is Ron coming in and going into a toilet stall. Right then, Halder puts on his hockey mask and goes into character, kicking in the stall door and raising the activated chainsaw with maniacal laughter—and Caitlin, caught by complete surprise, begins screaming with fright, then slips from her seat and falls into the toilet bowl. Jen tells Halder to stop the chainsaw because the prank has backfired, and Caitlin is now stuck in the toilet and needs help getting out but won't accept help from Jonesy, Jude and Wyatt, so Jen and Nikki come to Caitlin's rescue and pull her out of the stall. Back outside the washroom, a humiliated Caitlin now has Talon's Batman cape wrapped around her after getting cleaned up, and Jonesy and the gang wonder aloud how the prank could have gone wrong. Around the same time, Ron emerges from the elite washroom at the Khaki Barn and thanks Chrissy for letting him use it.

The next day at the food court, Caitlin and Talon have put the loathsome washroom incident behind them (at Cait's insistence) when Ron comes around and hands out citation tickets to the gang for their attempted pranking of him. Although his friends (particularly Caitlin) are still smarting from the failed prank and see the tickets as adding insult to injury, Jonesy still has an ace up his sleeve and he plays it as he finally gets Ron shortly afterward, when the security guard unknowingly sits on a chocolate-frosted cupcake placed on the seat at his office desk as Jonesy, Jude and Wyatt watch. The guys are already gone by the time Ron goes out to see who is laughing outside the office, but as he stoops to retie his shoelaces, Stanley and his mother walk by and start snickering as they see a chocolate stain on the seat of his pants.

Quotes

  • Jonesy (asking Jen about her costume): Let's see it!
Jen: No way! It's too embarrassing.
Wyatt: Oh come on, it can't be that bad.
Jen: Oh, really? (puts on the pig ears and snout as banjo music plays in the background, then most of the gang starts laughing)
Jude: Okay, that's really bad, dude!
    Jen (embarrassed): I know!
Caitlin: You do not have to wear that.
Jonesy (teasingly): I think (snorts) it kinda (snorts) suits her! (snorts twice and laughs again)
Jen (banging her fists on the table): It's not funny, guys!
Wyatt (laughing): Lighten up! You make a very pretty pig.
Jen (sighing): I'm trying to break an all-time monthly sales record, but how am I supposed to be taken seriously in this?! (points to the pig nose)
Nikki (laughing): Maybe the Big Bad Wolf needs a new set of golf clubs!
  • Jude (on the phone to The Clones): Hello, this is the phone company calling. We would like to warn you that we are going to be bringing hot steam to clean all the phones in the building, so we advise you to put all phones on the ground, or better yet wrap them up in towels to avoid scalding yourself. We will phone you to tell you when the phone cleaning process is complete.
Kristen: Oh, thanks. (Jude hangs up and the gang starts laughing)
Jen: They can't be dumb enough to believe that!
Nikki: Oh, I don't know about that.
  • Caitlin (as she enters the theatre in her showgirl costume): Get ready for ME!
  • Jen (angrily, as she sees Coach Halder scare yet another customer out of the Penalty Box): That is it! (marches over to Halder) Okay, I know you like dressing up as a murderous psychopath and scaring the crap out of all your customers, but you've got to stop!
  • Caitlin (yelling at Jonesy, Jude and Wyatt and refusing their help after she falls into the toilet): Not you guys! The girls! GET OOOUT!!!!! (the guys get out of the stall as Jen and Nikki go in to help her out)
