- Her maternal grandparents were Lebanese
- Had a younger brother, Paul, who died of a drug overdose in 1984

- Her parents divorced in 1965; lived with her father until his death from heart disease in 1973
- Dropped out of high school and briefly worked at Winchell's Donut Shop
- Was reported as a runaway by her mother and was placed in a youth detention center for months until she was allowed to return to her mother's custody

- Six days after Anissa's death, Dr. Don Carlos Moshos was arrested for illegally prescribing seconal to her and charged with 11 offenses (including second degree murder); Moshos died of cancer in December of 1976 before the verdict came out which found him 30% liable for her death
