Archer is an animated spy comedy that airs on FXX. The first seven seasons aired on FX.

The series was created by Adam Reed and Floyd County Productions. Reed and the crew of Floyd County previously worked on Sealab 2021 and Frisky Dingo for Adult Swim. While being developed, the show was known as Duchess. The show focuses on Sterling Archer, codename "Duchess", who works as a spy for ISIS (International Secret Intelligence Service). Among the people he works with are his boss and mother Malory Archer, his ex-girlfriend Lana Kane and her then current boyfriend Cyril Figgis.

The fifth season, which premiered on January 13, 2014, became a game changer. After years of conducting espionage cases without permission from the government, Mallory and the ISIS crew almost get landed in jail, and the crew has since then been living a life of crime by literally, not figuratively, selling cocaine.

The show was originally set to premiere in October 2009 with 6 episodes, but due to the length of production for each episode, the premiere was pushed to January 2010. However, the first episode aired as a stealth premiere on September 17, 2009, in the place of an It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia rerun. Around the same time, it was announced that FX has ordered four more scripts, which ended up expanding the show's first season to 10 episodes.
