Basic Information

Daniella "Denny" Blood has experienced all of the corrective institutions. She has been emotionally deprived all her life and was sexually abused by her 'carers' while in foster care as a child. To compensate, she has formed fiercely loyal, fixated relationships, often with women whom she perceives have power - thus her early obsession with Shell.

Denny is a good fighter, being fearless to the point of stupidity. Despite her size, she is strong and works out to maintain her physical advantage. However, she's not very bright - she didn't learn to read until she came to Larkhall - and because of this, she is often easily manipulated and set up to attack other people's enemies.

On the plus side, Denny is a good friend to those she cares about... but she can also be a deadly enemy.

Character History

Her hard as nails exterior conceals an aching vulnerability. Vinnie Jones on the outside, Van Gogh on the inside. In care since she was four years old, Denny has never had exactly the best of lives. Raped by her foster father, she had an abortion at the age of 13. When she was put into a care home she actually liked, they wanted to transfer her so she burnt it down. Ths led to her being put into Larkhall with a sentence of 7 years.

Inside Larkhall she befriends "top dog", Shell Dockley, where she would do anything for her and sort out all her 'dirty work' because of the fact that Denny fancies Shell. While inside she meets her mother, Jessie Devlin, for the first time in years. She turns out to be an alcoholic, so Denny tells her to get clean then come back to her, but sadly Jessie dies before Denny has chance to make things work between them. After gangster wife, Yvonne Atkins arrives at Larkhall, the two quickly become friends, with Yvonne stepping in as her 'adopted mom'.

In series two Denny meets lifer Shaz Wyllie, the two quickly form up a close friendship and physical relationship. They even tattoo each others names on the the palm of their hands.

In series three Shaz, Denny and Shell escape, Denny is later recaptured in Spain and returned to Larkhall.

In series four Denny loses Shaz, when she dies in a fire and is just able to cope. She remains in Larkhall till she gets transferred to an open prison at the end of series 5.
