Plot Overview

Following the death of her husband, Norma Bates moves with her son Norman to a new town, buying a motel to run. However, their new home is marred by an unexpected visit from the previous owner, disgruntled over losing his family's home.

Happenings

• After the death of Norman's father, the Bates move from Arizona to Oregon where they buy the Seafairer hotel and have the sign removed in place of a sign for the Bates Motel.

• The former owner, Keith Summers, is killed and the Bates dump his body in the lake.

• Norman discovers a sketchbook in the hotel that appears to depict sex slaves.

• Norma learns about a bypass being built that will take traffic away from the hotel.

Behind the Scenes

• The conversation between Norma and Dylan was filmed to include Dylan sitting in the empty Bates home and was slightly longer. It was shortened and left one-sided, leaving only Max Thieriot's voice.

Memorable Moments

• Keith Summers taunts Norma after raping her and she angrily and repeatedly stabs him with a kitchen knife.

• The chairs at the table during Keith Summers's attack change between shots.
