Plot Overview
A visit to P.T. Barnum's circus results in McCord getting roped into fighting the circus's strongman, with the possibility of winning fifty dollars. He wins, but when the ringmaster doesn't pay the money, McCord forces his way into Barnum's tent and winds up being offered a job for fifty dollars a week as the new strongman. He refuses, so Barnum has posters printed up inviting visitors to see 'Jason McCord, the Coward of Bitter Creek'. An enraged McCord revisits Barnum, upset that the circus owner would get someone to impersonate him. He first threatens to sue Barnum, but instead helps the showman find a new star act instead.
