Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Slayer

From The TV IV
Jump to: navigation, search
In every generation, there is a Chosen One.
She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness.
She is the Slayer.

A slayer is a chosen person that is part of an ancient line of female warriors. As each Slayer dies, another is chosen from among the numerous potential slayers around the world, continuing the line. Slayers never die of old age, but are instead condemned to brutal existences spent fighting a war which they can never win.

Slayers are endowed with incredible strength, speed, resilience, and an innate martial capacity which allows them to use almost any possible weapon with skill. Each Slayer is also appointed a guardian and guide from among the ranks of the watchers, who help to train and direct her.

History of the Slayer

Their origins lie in the dim past in aboriginal Africa, where a group of male sorcerers called the Shadow Men decided that the world needed someone to protect it. They captured a young woman and imbued her with demonic energy against her will, creating the First Slayer.

In May of 2003, the slayer line disappeared when Willow casted a spell to give all Potentials the power to become a slayer.

Slayer Inconsistencies

  • In several episodes, Buffy has the capability to jump extremely high, but this technique seems to only be used for plot contrivances. Angel possesses a similar skill.
