Allusions and References
The name of Sammy Davis Jr.'s character in this episode is 'Cordwainer Bird'. The episode's writer, noted science fiction author Harlan Ellison, used the alias of Cordwainer Bird on a number of other TV scripts he wrote for series like Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and The Flying Nun. Ellison freely admits that he mainly wrote scripts for money and had much disdain for many series he had written for.
Memorable Moments
This episode is full of great moments, including Sammy Davis Jr. tapdancing on Burke's desk and telling bad jokes, and a catfight between Suzy Parker and Diana Dors.
Quotes
"Cynical conversation makes for bitter brew...never mix 'em. Burke's Law"--Amos turns down a drink from Angela Pattison (Suzy Parker) after she reveals her hatred for murder victim Alex Debbs.
