Plot Overview

The precinct gets a visit from a special 'helper'...Maximum Efficiency Robot Vector, or MERV 1, for short, a robot with a huge database that can answer any question. Initially, everyone is fascinated by MERV 1, except Harlan, who fears that he could be replaced by MERV 1 and resents him, but when a split in MERV 1's core causes him to act erratically, it leads to a life-threatening situation at MERV 1's next stop, a children's hospital. Also, a helpful motorcycle group called the 'Freeway Angels' thinks that they are helping the CHP in their pursuit of drunk and reckless drivers, but when they stop a reckless driver who's also involved in thefts of stereo equipment, the group's leader winds up in danger, and Ponch must rescue her.
