Plot Overview
An assortment of odd items--stolen road barriers, a water pistol, an empty syringe, a piece of adhesive tape and a mask made of muslin cloth--are found on a rarely used access road, which leads Cade to suspect that someone is planning to commit a major crime. Arlo, his deputy, is surprised to learn that his visiting brother, who was always the 'favorite son', is plotting to commit a kidnapping.
