Plot Overview

The date is February 3, 1990, but the episode begins in 2003, with the arrest of a disoriented woman in a house gown wandering around a cemetery in broad daylight. Since she was carrying a newspaper clipping about an unsolved homicide, Lilly is called. She learns that the homicide victim, who's interred in that very cemetery, is the woman's husband. He was the organist for a church and was found stabbed multiple times in his van in an alley off Kensington Avenue (where Lilly says she grew up, which has since become a hotbed for prostitution), and drugs and pornography were found inside the van. The investigating officers at that time wrote the murder off as a 'solicitation gone bad'. Lilly and Lessing find out disturbing info in talking to the dead man's surviving family (the wife, who has since developed Alzheimer's Disease; the son, who now takes care of the mother; and the daughter, who revered her father and is no longer speaking to her mother or brother), including the fact that the seemingly good Christian was having an affair with one of the choir members.
