Plot Overview
The date is April 5, 1943. A young housewife, who took a job in a war munitions plant, is found dead, the victim of what appears to be an accidental fall. Over sixty years later, Lily's reporter friend introduces her to her elderly aunt, a friend of the dead girl, who questions why she was there after hours when she wasn't scheduled to work on the day of the accident. In talking to some of the other women who worked at the plant, Lily learns that the dead girl was the recipient of a lot of male attention, including their creepy drunken boss, and also that her close friends at the plant were taking her out for drinking and dancing, something that didn't sit well with their neighbor, who was in love with her husband, and also with the husband himself, when he returned home from the war.
