Plot Overview

The date is May 15, 1981. A young high school track star is brutally murdered. Fast-forward to 22 years later...an armed robbery suspect comes forward, claiming to be a witness that could clear the man who was arrested and convicted of the murder. Lilly breaks in her new partner, Scotty Valens, and they pay a visit to a garage owner whom the witness claims was washing blood out of the front seat of a Firebird. The garage owner, a nobody in high school, tells Rush and Valens that the car belonged to his 'best friend', now a prominent surgeon, a guy who was the most popular in the class. The doctor and his high-school girlfriend were the most popular couple in the class, and Lilly suspects that somehow or another, the dead girl came between them.
