Plot Overview
The date is March 11, 1987. Shortly after leading his team to the State Championship, a high school basketball phenom is found stabbed to death on a playground basketball court on the other side of town. In present-day 2003, his son, also a promising high school baller, receives a phone threat. Lilly and the team look into whether there's any connection between the two incidents. Among the suspects: a disgruntled teammate, who not only was thrown off the team for suggesting that the dead young man accepted a bribe, but also lost his girlfriend to him as well; the boy's 'uncle', who may have talked him into throwing the game to pay off his gambling debts; the boy's coach, who would have lost out had he not taken an offer from a larger college; the bookie to whom the 'uncle' was in debt; and lastly, the teammate's father, who was upset that his son's chances of becoming a star player were damaged by being dropped from the team.
