Plot Overview
A powerful and rising Senator offers to help Torello and his task force shut down the Lucky Star. They raid a meeting of mobsters who've all arrived in Las Vegas in the wake of Ray Luca's funeral, hoping to take his place. Mike and his team offer protection to the Senator, who's about to hold a trial concerning illegal gambling and certain to be a target for assassination. A glamorous movie star is also in town, and she and Torello become involved. What he discovers about her is that she's owned by New York mobster Mastrangelo, who's hoping to take over Luca's operation, and that she's about to set up the Senator for a hit. A gambling-addicted Grossman finds himself in the hole for $15,000, and he finds himself in serious trouble...if he doesn't hand over some sensitive information being presented by the Senator, the Mob will blow the whistle on him and see to it he loses his badge.

The Show
Songs featured in this episode: "Lonesome Town" by Ricky Nelson and "Simply Beautiful" by Al Green, which, though wildly anachronistic (it's an early '70's song), is used to fine effect when Torello and Pamela Palmer are in bed together.
