- Former stepdaughter of Tim Pelt
- Began acting when she was 8 years old
- On September 7, 1977, Danielle and her stepfather, Tim were in a severe car accident which killed Tim and left Danielle comatose for three weeks; Danielle has no memories of the accident and spent six months recuperating in arm and leg casts
- Suffered from spinal stenosis due to the injuries from the car accident and a surgery to correct the problem left her partially paralyzed for 8 months
- Was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014
- Married to Garry Fields since 1999
- Attended the University of California-Davis to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine; while attending the school, she was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority
- Attended Tuskegee University Veterinary School in Tuskegee, Alabama.
- Currently works as a veterinarian
