Plot Overview

Notes

  • The only way to destroy The Jackal is (after killing all his henchman) by hitting him with an autographed Bobby Mercer baseball--the one Gus got from the only baseball game he ever went to with his father. A Bobby Mercer baseball card merely hurts The Jackal.
  • The Jackal is patterned after a combination of Gus' father Jordan Kenneth Lloyd and The Devil.

Memorable Moments

  • We see The Jackal burned by a Bobby Mercer baseball card.
  • Gus, Lauren and The Jackal are all sucked into the computer--and into the last level of Gus' video game.
  • When The Jackal is hurt and angered, his entire outfit goes from white to red--representing The Devil.
  • When Gus and Lauren are in the game, they suddenly wear the outfits of the official game characters that represent them--"The Cold-Steel Kid" and "The Girl."
  • Gus tells Lauren (and the viewers) why he and his father are so estranged.
  • Gus hurls the offical Bobby Mercer baseball as The Jackal as he goes up in bright-white light in slow motion.
  • Lauren accompanies Gus to his father's for the birthday party. We find out Gus' father Jordan Kenneth Lloyd was the inspiration for The Jackal. The two begin to mend the burned bridges between them. And Lauren suggests another baseball game. We also find out Gus' father was the one who gave Gus the moniker of "The Kid."
  • After the destruction of The Jackal and the end of the game, the last scene cuts back to the lab where the computer is being typed from the inside by The Jackal, restoring his own file. We hear him say from the inside, "Tough luck, Kid."
