Detective Conan is a detective anime dramedy series that airs on Nippon Television, Yomiuri TV and Animax in Japan. It was eventually exported to North America and broadcast on Adult Swim in the United States and YTV in Canada. The first 130 episodes were dubbed and prepared for English broadcast, but only 50 were aired on Adult Swim before the series was pulled due to low ratings. All 130 eventually aired on Funimation TV. The series was known as Case Closed in the United States.
The series is about Jimmy Kudo, a 17-year-old high school detective who often uses his observational skills to work with the police. During one such case, Kudo is attacked by two gang members and forced to swallow a newly-developed drug that is meant to kill him but, instead, transforms his body into a seven-year-old instead. He adopts the pseudonym Conan Edogawa, hence the series title, and proceeds to investigate the syndicate in order to find an antidote to his condition.
