  • American Psycho: The alias Dexter used to gain a DEA license and, thereby, procure the tranquilizer he uses on his victims is "Patrick Bateman." In American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis, Patrick Bateman is a wealthy young investment banker and a self-described serial killer. Much like Dexter, Bateman puts up an elaborate facade to blend in while indiscriminately killing whomever he sees fit. However, unlike Dexter, Bateman has no code of ethics and may not be a killer at all. The film adaptation, starring Christian Bale in the lead role, particularly insinuated that Bateman was delusional.
