The ultimate in in-jokes, playing upon Victoria Rowell's being both a regular on Diagnosis: Murder (as Dr. Amanda Bentley) and The Young and the Restless (as Druscilla Winters). A number of popular Y&R actors appear in this episode, all of whom comment on the 'striking' resemblance between Amanda and Vicki, and it's a hoot to see Amanda get upset at being mistaken for the daytime starlet.
Doug Davidson plays the character of private detective Paul Williams on Y&R, and here he plays himself, offering his investigative prowess to aid Steve in the investigation.
