Trivia

The Show

  • This marks the first time the interior of the Doctor's TARDIS is seen in colour.

Behind the Scenes

  • Originally titled The Vampire from Space, it began as a story envisaged to be a seven-part serial for The Second Doctor.
  • Corporal Bell noting that the arrival of Axos had prompted "freak weather conditions" was added to explain the varying range of the weather during filming. It went from snow at the start of the week, through fog and finally to sunshine on the last day. It got so cold that Nicholas Courtney recalled that half of his fake moustache kept falling off and Katy Manning nearly suffered from frostbite through her thing boots, with the cast and crew keeping warm over open vehicle bonnets with the engines running.
