Trivia

The Show

  • As of this episode, there is a completely different opening title sequence that would be used until the show's original end with Season 26. This episode also introduces a new logo that would continue until the early 1990s.
  • The absolute most infamous and unpopular episode of the show, owed to the lack of a script editor when it was written, the lack of any knowledge of the character of the regenerated doctor, the quality of the regeneration itself, and the poor performances all around. This episode was so poor that a fan group made a MSTing of it.

Behind the Scenes

  • Colin Baker was fired prior to this season, but contrary to popular belief, he did not refuse to return to film the Sixth Doctor's regeneration. He actually agreed on the condition that he could do an entire third season that would end with a regeneration. The production office never contacted him again. Instead, Sylvester McCoy takes the brief role as the Sixth Doctor wearing an obvious wig.

Goofs

  • The title sequence for part four erroneously uses an earlier version with more transparent, reddish photographs of Sylvester McCoy's face rather than the more opaque, bluish-silver ones.
