Plot Overview
The mechs and skidders appear to be pulling back and re-grouping in Boston. Mason, Weaver and Hal go on a recon patrol to examine the structure in Boston. In Boston, they observe a tall, slender, humanoid creature that appears to be a new alien race in command of the skidders.
While pulling back, they encounter a human woman who invites them into her house. Mason and Hal go to talk to her. She tells them that she was captured and held for a while before she was eventually released.
Weaver takes one of the bikes and goes off on his own. Mason realizes Weaver has gone back to his home and follows with Hal. There they are attacked by a mech. Weaver distracts it with gunfire and a gas explosion while Mason runs up and sticks two gernades to the armor with duct tape.
Realizing the woman betrayed them they go back to her house. While there, Karen appears, harnessed. She brings food and supplies to the woman in exchange for information such as the movement of Mason and the others.
Back at the school, Anne and Lourdes do an autopsy on the skidder body. Buried inside they find a harness leading Anne to believe that putting the harness on the kids is only the first step in something larger.
Pope realizes that the mechs are using converted human style bullets, made with mech metal that are armor piercing. He stages a demonstration where he fires through mech armor with a handgun loaded with the armor piercing rounds.
