Plot Overview

Meg being an outcast is a major theme in this episode. Here, she is confronted by a bloodthirsty bully named Mike Pulaski, who threatens to beat her to death after she accidentally spills her lunch on him at school, and spends the entire episode trying to find a way to get the upper hand. Meanwhile, Peter grosses out Brian by constantly parading himself in front of the dog... while naked.

The new kid at school is a good looking hunk named Mike Pulaski. But Pulaski is no heartthrob … he's a hulking bully who, if you've crossed him the wrong way, will really make you regret it. Meg does just that when she trips in the lunchroom and accidentally spills her lunch on him. A normal person would be at worst somewhat upset. Mike? He threatens to kill Meg by brutally beating her to death.

Now at a normal high school, Mike would be expelled even before he completed saying that he was going to kill Meg. At James Woods High School, she runs into an uncaring administration; even the principal is gleefully accepting wagers as to who will win the showdown.

Meg then pleads with her mother to transfer to another school. Lois brushes her off, dismissing the threat as nonexistent and adding that it's too expensive anyway. Meg then tries to play a sex tape of herself at school, but nobody watches it (except Stewie). Her attempt to pay a bunch of tough musclemen to run Mike off also fails spectacularly, as Mike is not only able to dispatch them all with ease … but he drains their blood and writes on the bathroom wall that he expects Meg to show up and take her beating.

On the verge of hopelessness, Meg tries to explain things to her only friends, but they abandon her, fearing for their own safety. She runs to the restroom, bawling and seemingly out of hope -- until she sees the pervert Quagmire hiding out in the restroom. Quagmire gets Meg to explain her situation and that Mike is planning to kill her, and after revealing he, too, was a victim of bullying, he decides the right thing to do is train her to fight him.

It ends up being a unique fight. Meg finally gets the upper hand on Mike by kissing him flush on the lips. Mike is grossed out by being kissed by an ugly girl, but Meg goes further by popping a pimple onto him before flashing Mike. Mike fails to look away and eventually passes out at what is implied to be the grotesque sight of a hideously ugly teenaged girl showing off her naked body; he melts down in a fashion similar to what happened to the Nazis in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Meg wins the fight and the grudging respect of her classmates, and Quagmire tells her she's got a lot to be proud of and will be alive a long time.

In the subplot, Peter gets on Brian's nerves when he talks about sleeping in the nude. Peter realizes he can have a little fun at Brian's expense by constantly being nude around him. A number of situations develop where Peter tricks Brian into looking at him while in the buff, until Brian can take it no more. The dog decides turnabout is fair play and shaves himself to his skin. Peter is traumatized at what he had just seen, and gets the hint. Meanwhile, Brian admits it'll be at least three months before all his hair grows back.

The Show

  • The Parents Television Council, a frequent critic of Family Guy, filed an indecency complaint to the Federal Communications Commission, citing what it called "vile sexual content" and "the overall theme of the episode is that it is humorous for a boy to bully and beat up a girl." [1]
