Plot Overview

Quagmire's father Dan, a lieutenant commander in the Navy, comes for a visit. Peter and Joe suspect that Dan may be a homosexual and share their beliefs with Quagmire. At the Naval ball, Quagmire shares his friends' concerns with Dan, who reveals that he is not gay but "a woman trapped in a man's body" and is planning to have a sex change operation. Peter accompanies Quagmire to the hospital where the surgery is taking place. The surgery is successful, and Dan emerges as an attractive blonde woman named Ida.

At dinner the night Quagmire's "new friend" is released from the hospital, Peter bombards Ida with questions about the surgery, which Ida openly discusses. Quagmire is embarrassed and frustrated and, after they return home, get into an argument over Ida's new identity. Quagmire rejects the person that once was his father.

Meanwhile, Brian attends a seminar in New Haven about creating a Web series. Returning to Quahog and unaware of what has happened, Brian stops at a hotel bar on the way home, where Ida is drowning her sorrows. The two begin to have a conversation and, after the alcohol takes effect, they retire to Ida's room to have sex. Brian returns home the next day and shares his newfound love with Peter and Lois, showing them a picture of her that he had taken with his cellphone. Peter and Lois laugh hysterically; Brian - unaware of Ida's previous identity - suggests they are both jealous. Later, Brian shares his experiences with Stewie, who reveals that Ida was previously Quagmire's father. Brian is sickened by this revelation, vomiting violently before screaming.

Meanwhile, Ida returns to Quagmire's house, hoping that "her" son will understand his decision and sex change. Quagmire decides that, for the good of the relationship, he needs to reconcile their differences and accepts Ida for who "she" is. After sharing a hug, Ida reveals that she has met someone, and after Quagmire finds out, he screams in rage.

Brian and Quagmire finally cross paths in the final scene. A severely traumatized Brian showers himself and pants heavily in front of the mirror, but that will soon be the least of his worries. An enraged Quagmire bursts into the Griffins' house, demanding to find Brian. Brian flees to Peter and Lois's room and tries to hide under the bed, but before he can get all the way underneath, Brian finds him and proceeds to give him a severe beating; Brian tries desperately to get away through the doggie door, but is pulled back and beaten some more. After Quagmire finishes and warns a badly defeated Brian to never come near his house again, Brian gets the last word in: "I fucked your dad!" before slamming the door shut.
