Trivia
The Show
- One of this episode's gags - a musical number called "You Have AIDS" - drew angry protests several AIDS service organizations because of its comic portrayal of breaking the news to an individual ill with the disease. The gag in question features Dr. Hartman unsure how to tell a patient that he has end-stage AIDS and that he will die soon, after which he invites Peter and three other men - all dressed in barbershop quartet-style outfits - into the room, where they gather around his bed and sing an upbeat, sprightly ragtime song about the man's illness.
Behind the Scenes
Allusions and References
- Rock Lobster: The hit single by The B-52's, a rock band from Georgia who were popular in the late '70s and early '80s. The song that Peter sings to Cleveland is the second stanza and chorus of the single.
- Wild and Crazy Guys : A skit from Saturday Night Live starring Dan Aykroyd and Steve Martin, they posed as the Festrunk Brothers, two "Wild and Crazy Guys." The scene following Quagmire's statement of the way things used to be with Cleveland is a reference of that skit. In that scene, Peter also appears as Beldar Conehead (Dan Aykroyd) which was a character from another skit on SNL.
