Plot Overview
Jennifer's behavior becomes more and more uncontrollable as the influence of her new friends — supposedly popular girls who act like stuck up valley girls — continues to battle that of her parents. The girls even make Jennifer shun her real friends, who are nice but unspectacular. At one point, Alex even remarks that he is "running out of normal sisters."
Eventually, Steven and Elyse become fed up with Jennifer's new attitude and ground her. They warn her not to have any friends over while they go away for a few hours, although Jennifer's real friend is apparently invited. However, the girls (along with a few boyfriends) come over unannounced to have a party. At first, Jennifer goes along with the group, until she sees they have beer with them. She decides that her parents were right about the "popular" clique and kicks them out. Jennifer makes up with her real friends.
That isn't the end of the story. That night, Steven and Elyse come home and find empty beer cans in the house. They confront Jennifer, who tries to tell them the truth. At first her parnts don't believe her, but her friend backs her up and all is forgiven.
