The 49th Grammy Awards aired on February 11, 2007. Like the previous year's ceremony, the awards show was not given a general host. Instead, that time is filled with musical performances rather than digressions by a host. The show was produced by Ken Ehrlich Productions and John Cossette Productions.

Trivia
- The ceremony was opened with a performance by The Police, who reunited in order to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the band's first single. Though the band dissolved in 1986, they occasionally reformed to play one-off concerts like at Sting's wedding or at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.
- During his acceptance speech, Ludacris thanked Bill O'Reilly. During O'Reilly's crusade against rap music on The O'Reilly Factor, he frequently singled out Ludacris as a particular rapper who was helping corrupt America's youth.
