Plot Overview

In the end, Roger and Potsie tell Fonzie that his notice to report for duty was a mistake. There apparently was a clerical error and that, because of his bad knee, he didn't have to report after all. Just then, Officer Kirk comes in for inspection, and – knowing the General is about to participate in the inspection – makes a mess of Fonzie's quarters. He's so absorbed in making Fonzie look like an insubordinate private that he doesn't even stop to notice that Fonzie isn't objecting.

And then Officer Kirk reads the letter and ... uh oh!

The General comes in, sees the messed up sleeping quarters that now belong to Officer Kirk ... and makes him drop and do 25 push-ups. Fonzie is allowed to leave and go to Heather's birthday party after all!
