Biography

Harvey Silver was born April 12, 1976 on his mother's birthday in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The second child of 4 children, his mother was too young to raise both him and his sister alone, so she made a choice of putting Harvey in foster care at the age of five. Harvey took acting classes throughout his teenage years to stay away from the streets! He also thought this would be a good way for him to express himself. Harvey became passionate about acting while performing in student plays in high school and was accepted into the Philadelphia's prestigious "Society Hill Playhouse," which was a part of his High School extra credit program. Harvey knew that he had picked the right career for himself, by the age of sixteen.

Only in the business for a few months, he already had his first screen test for a three-year contract on the now defunct, ABC soap opera titled "Loving." After graduating from 'The Hill School' (Private High School), Harvey enrolled at 'New York University' to study Political Science and Theater. It was the involvement in the Tisch Program at N.Y.U. that led Harvey on his way into a concrete acting career.

After arriving in Los Angeles in 1995, Harvey started working immediately. He screen tested for the USA Network sitcom titled "Claude's Crib." Harvey's first professional Equity stage experience was doing the lead role in a play titled "American Medea" at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles with Tony award winner, film actress and ABC's 'Lost' star - L. Scott Caldwell. Harvey has starred in three other Equity stage productions which include "Salt on Sugar Hill" at the Mark Taper; Ivy Sub in Los Angeles, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Society Hill Playhouse in Philadelphia and "The Misanthrope" at the prestigious Annenberg Center also in Philadelphia. His television debut was a Coca Cola commercial directed by critically acclaimed film director - John Singleton.

In 1995, Harvey gave a breakthrough performance with a lead role in the 20th Century Fox movie titled "The Price of Love," playing opposite Peter Facinelli and Laurel Holloman. The Fox Movie gave Harvey the exposure to showcase the depth of his acting ability. "The Price of Love" was a movie about the teen homelessness and teen prostitution that goes on in Hollywood. Critically acclaimed feature film and TV movie director David Burton Morris was the director of "The Price of Love." Harvey got offered his own spin-off Docu-Film for 20th Century Fox, about runaway teens titled "Runaways." Harvey has starred in his own sitcom, ironically about foster-kids. The show was NBC's hit comedy titled "One World," which aired from 1998-2001. Harvey has also starred in a MTV series titled "Conic Sections." His TV pilots include, CBS's "Street Gear" and HBO's "Shelly Fisher" which was later turned into a feature film. Harvey's other feature film credits include, the Justin Zackhams breakthrough hit cult comedy "Going Greek" & "The Fastest Man In The World". Harvey's other films include "Just Chill, "Tell My Mom I Love Her", "Last Resort", "Trade", "Steel", "The Solution", "The Wonderful World of Colour", "Shelly Fisher", "Conflict", "Fork Play", "Secret Lies", "The Forgotten", "Promise", "Stranded" and "Fractalus". Harvey wishes to continue his career in the film and theatre world with his mind on a goal to someday win a Tony award for a dramatic or comedic role on "Broadway"!
