Iron Chef is a cooking competition that was broadcast on Fuji TV in Japan. Otherwise known as Ryōri no tetsujin or Ironmen of Cooking, the cult series was hosted by the flamboyant Chairman Takeshi Kaga and follows a simple competitive format. A challenging chef calls out a pronounced expert and the two create several courses based around a secret ingredient. While they cook, like in a sporting event, regular commentators and a correspondent offer information about the food being prepared. After the competitors' hour is up, their food is judged by a panel of guest judges and Kaga.
