Underage Drinking: a National Concern is the third episode of the first season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. After the gang accidentally forgets to card teenagers, Mac decides to hold a safe haven for teenage drinkers. With their new found popularity, the gang each try to relive some missed part of their own teenage years.

Plot Overview

There's a lot of people and Paddy's and the owners can't figure out why... Until they realize that the bar is filled with teenagers getting drunk because nobody was carding them. Despite how incredibly illegal this is, Mac, Dennis and Charlie decide to transform Paddy's into a youth drinking safe haven. Instead of letting kids pay a homeless person to buy them alcohol and get drunk in a park which is likely filled with murderers and pedophiles, they'll let the kids drink overpriced, watered down beer at their bar.

Dee, on the other hand, refuses to be a part of this drunken teenagers idea and instead winds up going out on a date with a boy who came to the bar the night before. While she's out on her date, the bar starts to become unhinged when a bunch of teenagers who think they're drunk start to cause trouble. Dennis had been honoring the 4-drink pledge they had made when they decided to serve minors, and had been watering them down but the kids appeared to be drunk. Worse yet Dennis finds out about Dee's affair with the high school kid while being hit on by a teenage girl at the bar.

The next day, while attempting to relive their high school joys of huffing glue, Mac and Charlie get invited to a party by a girl he "rescued" at the bar named Sarah. They realize that high school parties were intensely dull moments before being swindled into picking up a keg for the party. Eventually they run into Dee at the party and get drunk to forget about how awkward it is that they're all at a high school party.

The next morning, it seems that everyone (except Mac) has been asked to the prom, including Dennis who is blackmailed the girl who hit on him at the bar. They all decide to go (except Mac, who just gets pissed because he wasn't asked) and hold a pre-prom party. They do so, and Dee gets wasted before it's even time to leave. Mac shows up claiming he is going stag. But when Dee and Dennis' dates get back together, the gang gets into an argument and is left alone in the bar, completely dateless except for Charlie, who winds up going to the prom anyway.

• Music: The song that plays at the prom at the end and throughout the credits is "Forever Young" by Alphaville.

• Timeslot Change: This episode was originally scheduled to air on August 18, 2005, but was moved up when its timeslot was changed to Tuesdays at 11PM.

Memorable Moments

• Dee is feeling creepy about showing up with Trey to a high school party, but when she sees that Mac and Charlie are there as well she lets herself go and starts doing keg-stands. The next day, she wakes up after falling asleep on Charlie and the creepiness returns. She makes Mac and Charlie get up and leave with her.
