Jubei-chan the Ninja Girl is a comedic action anime program created by Akitaroh Daichi with character designs by Mutthiri Moony. The series revolves around the adventures of a typical teenage girl who discovers she is the reincarnation of the legendary Japanese swordsman Jubei Yagyu.
Three hundred years before the start of the series Jubei Yagyu was severely wounded in a battle with a rival school. Before he died, he imbued his skills and knowledge into a heart-shaped eyepatch. This eyepatch was entrusted to his follower Koinosuke, who then wandered the earth for centuries in search of Jubei Yagyu's successor, an individual possessed of "plump, bouncy bon bons". Koinosuke believes he has found this person in Jiyu Nanohana, a cheerful teenage girl living alone with her father. Unfortunately, Jiyu wants nothing to do with the eyepatch. She is soon forced to change her mind when acolytes from the rival Ryujoji school appear to kill her.
The early episodes focus on the students of Ryujoji appearing at Jiyu's high school (usually as new teachers) and trying to kill her. Later episodes delved into Jiyu's personal life, the history of the conflict, and ongoing confrontations with one rival student in particular.
A sequel program, Jubei-Chan 2: The Counter Attack of Siberia Yagyu was produced in 2004. It continues the story of Jiyu Nanohana and the Lovely Eyepatch.
