Kimagure Orange Road is a romantic comedy anime revolving around the life of Kyosuke Kasuga, a Japanese high schooler with supernatural powers he must keep secret from people outside of his family. Additionally, he must deal with his growing relationships between himself and two girls: Hikaru Hiyama, who adores Kyosuke, even to the point of always calling him "Darling;" and Madoka Ayukawa, whom he loves but has no idea whether the feelings are mutual.
Kimagure Orange Road is based off of the manga of the same name by Izumi Matsumoto, which was serialized in the magazine Weekly Shonen Jump. In 1985, prior to the broadcast of the TV series, a special OVA was released in Japan entitled Kimagure Orange Road: Shonen Jump Special. Additionally, after the series finished, there were eight more OVA's produced from 1989 to 1991.
There are two theatrical movies based on the series, as well: Kimagure Orange Road: I Want to Return to That Day, released in 1988, and Kimagure Orange Road: Summer's Beginning, released in 1996.
