Behind the Scenes

Allusions and References

Memorable Moments

  • When Hanks sits down to watch the adult videos, we see the clock on the VCR flashing 12:00 as it fads to signify a passage of time, but the clock is still flashing 12:00.
  • As Hank is watching the videos and taking notes, his pen runs out of ink. As he shakes it, Peggy walks in. While we don't see from her perspective, it's clear what she thinks she caught Hank doing.

Quotes

  • Bobby: Let's buy this one. It's like watching TV, only the show is about wet clothes.
  • Buckley: (to a customer) Hey. (to another customer) Hey.
Luanne: Hello, Buckley!
Buckley: Hey.
Luanne: When did you get promoted to greeter?
Buckley: Yester - (to customer) Hey - (to Luanne) day.
  • Hank: Bobby, you ever heard of a movie called Cuffs & Collars?
Bobby: Ooh, I think that's the one with the two cops who don't get along, but then they do, but it's too late 'cause he's dead, but not really.
Hank: So, you've seen it?
Bobby: No.
  • Hank: I told you I didn't rent the tape now who's calling me a liar, you or the machine? 'Cause I want to know whose ass to kick.
Arlen Video Clerk: I'm not calling you a liar, sir.
Hank: Fine. Now, where's the ass on this thing?
  • Hank: Where would Cuffs & Collars be? Action-adventure, action-comedy, action-action?
  • Bill: I'm glad. I'm glad I'm not the only one who is disgusted by pornography. It's offensive. It's demeaning. It creates a standard of idealised beauty that your average man can't compete with.
  • Dale: Computers have already beaten the Communists at chess. Next thing you know, they'll be beatin' humans.
  • Receptionist: Do you know this guy?
Boomhauer: No dadgum way, man. That's some dirty old man, hanging around sex toys, man. Back at my place if you're interested.
  • Dale: You should have seen this comin', Hank. One by one, your friends will desert you. I'll be next.
  • Peggy: (to Hank) What do I do to get through to you? Do I have to take off my shirt and dance like the women in your movies?
  • Bill: It's sad, really. All he wanted was for his clothes to be dry.
Dale: Yup.
Boomhauer: Yup.
Peggy: Ho yeah!
