Plot Overview
Valerie and Barry are captured by Biff Bowers, a giant trumpeter who is down on his luck and owes money to his employer, a music club owner named Hanley, while they and Fitzhugh visit the club. Biff, who is aware of the reward being offered for the capture of the Earthlings, plans to sell his captives to the Special Investigations Department to get the money he needs to pay off his debt. To free Valerie and Barry, Dan makes a deal with Biff to teach him about a new and exciting playing style from Earth – jazz music – that the giant (and by extension, his audience) has yet to experience.
