Late Night
From The TV IV
Late Night is a long-running late night talk show franchise that follows The Tonight Show on NBC. The brand premiered in 1982 when Johnny Carson gained control of the timeslot following his Tonight Show, leading to Tomorrow, a talk show that followed the Tonight Show since 1973, being cancelled. The brand has been applied to four shows, which most notably launched the careers of David Letterman and Conan O'Brien in late night television. Although Letterman's show was the first to feature the Late Night name, Tomorrow had preceded it as a talk show in the timeslot following The Tonight Show.
