Plot Overview

In order to repair the wall of Hal & Lois' bedroom, the family holds a garage sale where Lois decides to put Reese in charge of it which upsets Malcolm; Malcolm offers to sell Craig a vintage computer that is worth a lot of money; Hal discovers equipment from his old radio show from his college years and decides to revive it, but ends up getting in trouble with the law; meanwhile, Francis tries to help Otto's strained relationship with his son.

Allusions and References

• In the cold opening, Dewey tells Malcolm that in school he learned about "these people who did this broadcast and convinced everyone that aliens were landing." This is indirectly referring to the Mercury Theatre on the Air broadcast of The War of the Worlds on October 30th, 1938, its realistic narrative helping to convince some that Martians had invaded Earth.
