Allusions and References

  • The Hills: When Becky complains about how the "Lindsay Lopez" blog reduced one of her students to tears, Bruce tells her that it's just common sense to not get a nose job during school and cites The Hills for that bit of information. The Hills is a reality television series broadcast on MTV about a superficial twentysomething who leaves her home in Laguna Beach. The series is a continuation of the MTV reality show Laguna Beach.
  • Perez Hilton: The "Lindsay Lopez" blog is likely a reference to Perez Hilton, the pseudonym of Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr. Hilton is a celebrity gossip blogger who runs an eponymous blog that tends to have a irreverent or cruel slant to the entries. The blog has also taken an active stance on "outing" homosexual celebrities (like Lopez trying to out Bruce) and is one of the reasons why celebrity coverage in America has become more and more prevalent.
