Passing is the eighth episode of the third season of Moral Orel and the thirty-eighth episode overall. A flashback to Clay's youth introduces his parents, a woman who found God after having 10 miscarriages and a man frustrated with how his wife has changed.

- Timeline: This episode is a flashback initiated by Clay trying to pass "Ol' Gunny" down to Orel.
- Music: Yet another song by The Mountain Goats appears in this episode. As Clay's mother is being buried, "Love Love Love" by the band plays. The song, unlike the previous songs, appears on the band's 2005 album The Sunset Tree. The song describes the virtues and consequences of doing things for reasons of love.
