Muppets Tonight is a variety/sketch comedy show that began airing on ABC in 1996. It followed Kermit the Frog and his friends as they attempted to put on a modern version of The Muppet Show for television (as opposed to the original, which took place in a theater). Notable in this version is that Kermit was the backstage producer, while the host was Clifford, a character introduced in The Jim Henson Hour and performed by Kevin Clash.

Although 13 episodes were produced for ABC, they cancelled the show after only 10 episodes. It was picked up by Disney Channel for a second season, which ran the 3 unaired season one episodes and 9 more for a series total of 22 episodes.
