Plot Overview
Jessica arrives in the sleepy desert town of Gila Junction to visit an old friend, a fellow writer who's looking into possible nuclear contamination at an Air Force base. While the nuclear waste issue might be negligible at best, what has the town on edge is the Truck Stop Bandit, a motorcycle-riding armed robber who has knocked over several high-stakes poker games. On top of all that is the possibility that the take from an unsolved robbery at the same Air Force base might be hidden in the desert, which leads to a number of characters searching for the stolen money and ultimately to murder.
