Plot Overview
The Movie
The feature in this episode is made up of two episodes from a Japanese television serial. Captain Joe and his crew refuse to kill humans which marks them as traitors to their race. They set off to destroy the secret weapon of an evil alien race and the evil group of space pirates known as the Star Wolves.
The Host Segments
- Opening Segment - Dr. Forrester is attending a mad scientist convention so Dr. Erhardt is in charge today. Joel sings the Fugitive Alien theme song to get everyone in the mood for today's feature.
- Segment One - Joel discovers that Gypsy and Tom Servo have taken Crow apart. He is upset and demands that they put him back together.
- Segment Two - Joel and Tom Servo talk about how you never see some celebrities in the same room at the same time together. Could they be the same person?
- Segment Three - Joel holds a dance competition. Tom Servo and Gypsy dance to "YMCA."
- Closing Segment - Joel announces the creation of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 fan club.
Notes
- Trace is out of town for a third time, so no Dr. Forrester or Crow in this episode.
- Fugitive Alien is one of the KTMA episodes that was re-done in a later season (3x10 - Fugitive Alien)
- Early in the episode, Tom Servo makes a reference to the movie "Marooned", which the gang will soon see themselves in its incarnation as "Space Travelers."
- The Japanese serial is loosely based on the Starwolf trilogy by Edmond Hamilton.
